In a couple of 50-point performances with different outcomes, the Flint Hill Huskies and Potomac School Panthers opened their high-school football seasons Sept. 2 in non-conference action.

Flint Hill routed Woodberry Forest, 53-13, on the road and Potomac School fell at home in McLean to the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs, 56-35.

      * In its win, Flint Hill threw six touchdown passes, ran for another score and returned a fumble for a final six points. The Huskies amassed 452 total yards, including 377 passing.

The scoring passes covered 78, 70, 56, 52, 16 and 15 yards, as the Woodberry defense had trouble covering the speedy Flint Hill receivers.

The Huskies took a 12-0 led, fell behind 13-12, then scored the game’s final 40 points in the non-conference clash.

Andrew King ran for 75 yards and a touchdown for Flint Hill and caught five passes for 115 yards and another TD.
