Montgomery County Police determined that Tuesday’s bomb threat at Bullis School in Potomac was not valid, according to a 1:28 p.m. social media post. Police returned control of the school to its administrators.
Police first reported around 12:02 p.m., on Tuesday that they were at Bullis School investigating a bomb threat. As a precaution, the school was evacuated, giving police a chance to evaluate the validity of the report.
About an hour later, police said that the bomb threat appeared to be linked to an Aug. 18 swatting incident at Montgomery Mall. “Swatting” is a form of harassment in which someone calls emergency personnel and sends them to another person’s address.
Bullis School is an independent preparatory day school for grades K-12 located at 10601 Falls Road in Potomac.
