At 16-6 on the season and 6-2 in the ACC, this year’s Maryland basketball team appears to be a lock to make the NCAA tournament, which is something that can definitely lift morale in College Park after years of disappointment. The Terps one-sided, 92-71 victory over UNC Sunday proved that Gary Williams is still king, but it has also legitimized Greivis Vasquez (18.1 ppg, 6.3 assists, 4.5 rebounds) as one of the best players in the ACC. After the victory Sunday, Vasquez discussed the Maryland crowd that provided the much-needed home court advantage.

"I just want to thank all the fans and students for being here," Vasquez said. "It was so loud and they were one of the reasons why we won. We're thankful for that and we appreciate what they do for us."

Vasquez has evolved from a loud and mistake prone guard into a savvy decision maker who creates for himself just as much as he does for his teammates. The combo guard looked like the ACC Player of the Year as he dished out 11 assists to just four turnovers, while racking up 26 points...
