The Washington Wizards announced today that they have signed forward Saddiq Bey.
Bey (6-7, 215) has played in 292 career games (223 starts) with the Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks, holding career averages of 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He appeared in 63 games (51 starts) for the Hawks last season, averaging 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game before missing the remainder of the season with a torn ACL suffered on March 10 against New Orleans.
The four-year pro was acquired by the Hawks via trade with the Pistons in February 2023. He was initially selected with the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Brooklyn Nets before being traded to Detroit on draft night. Bey played 204 games with the Pistons to begin his career, including the 2021-22 season which saw him start in all 82 games and average a career high 16.1 points per game.
Bey grew up in Largo, Md. and attended DeMatha Catholic for one year before moving on to Sidwell Friends School for the remainder of his high school career. Bey played two seasons at Villanova, where he was a unanimous first team All-BIG EAST selection in 2019-20.
