DeMatha’s four-star small forward Tyrell Ward made his decision Saturday. Despite saying Georgetown was his “dream” school, Ward is not going to play for Patrick Ewing next season.
Instead, the Maryland native chose Matt McMahon and the LSU Tigers.
Mike Young and Virginia Tech were also among Ward’s final three. In the case of the Hokies and Hoyas, Ward had ties assistants at both schools.
Virginia Tech’s associate head coach, Mike Jones, was Ward’s former head coach at DeMatha Catholic High School. Jones stepped away from the Stags to join the Hokies staff.
Georgetown has reportedly hired former Xavier assistant Jordan Brooks.
