KeymasterDuring a trip to Southern California for a track meet in April, Archbishop Carroll’s Nyckoles Harbor asked a hotel cashier if he could get a discount on an overpriced bag of candy. When she declined, Harbor flashed a smile and countered: “You can’t make it, like, three dollars? I’m a national track athlete — number one in the country.”
The incredulous cashier asked for his name, searched it on her phone and moments later provided gratis gummies — a scene captured in a YouTube docuseries titled “I AM: Nyckoles Harbor.”
Being a 6-foot-6, 245-pound teenager who can run 100 meters in 10.28 seconds (as he did that week in April outside Los Angeles) has its perks. It also makes Harbor a magnet for attention, and the 16-year-old — who will compete at New Balance Nationals this week in Philadelphia — is learning how to navigate his newfound fame.

KeymasterFive-star Nyckoles Harbor dishes on what he likes most about his seven finalists
Read entire article here: https://247sports.com/college/michigan/LongFormArticle/Michigan-fotball-recruiting-goes-Behind-the-uniform-with-Nyckoles-Harbor-who-breaks-down-final-seven-Maryland-LSU-Miami-South-Carolina-Georgia-USC-and-Michigan-189868844/
Nyckoles Harbor can hardly remember the time when his phone wasn’t buzzing every other second to signal the arrival of another call or text. That’s the norm for him now as one of the most heavily recruited prospects in the country. But despite all that unrelenting attention, he hasn’t stopped seeing the blessing in the position he finds himself in.
Even if it does sometimes double as a curse.
“I’ll start with the ‘likes’,” Harbor told The Michigan Insider when asked what he finds appealing about his recruitment. “It is very fun to be recruited at a high level because that’s what everybody dreams of. Everybody that plays football wants to be a five-star, wants to be one of the best recruits in the nation, wants all that college attention, and wants colleges flowing in. But I think the best part about it is my parents don’t have to pay for school.”
“And then, I’ll say the dislikes are sometimes (recruiting) does get annoying. I hate being on the phone. I don’t know why. I just hate being on the phone. I’ve gotten better at it, but I hate being on the phone. It’s just sometimes where I don’t want to talk. But I’ve gotten better at it with coaches and stuff. I just need a break. So, I’ve taken a lot of breaks. I’m basically like locked in now, focused on track.”

Several schools are leading the way for the five-star athlete from Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll, with Maryland, USC, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Penn State some of the early standouts. But there has also been a little more chatter that Harbor could turn pro in track, so that’s something else to watch.

Washington (DC) Archbishop Carroll five-star athlete Nyckoles Harbor and his parents are on their way to South Carolina for a weekend visit, his father Azuka tells 247Sports.
Harbor has been on the Gamecocks campus in the past, this will be the first time for his folks.
“We’re just going there to hang out with them and see what’s going on out there,” the elder Harbor said.
Harbor is in the area for the Junior Olympics track meet that begins Monday. The blue-chip recruit is also one of the elite sprinters in the nation and is the No. 1 athlete and No. 9 prospect overall in the Top247 player rankings.
“Let’s see what the campus looks like and everything,” Azuka Harbor added.
Besides this trip to South Carolina, the only other visit locked in for Harbor is an official to LSU the weekend of Oct. 8. The Tigers efforts have been led by Jamar Cain who has been recruiting Harbor for years now.
Both LSU and South Carolina’s track programs also stand out to Harbor.

KeymasterFive-star ATH Nyckoles Harbor and his family excited to get to Michigan this weekend
In football, the best ability is availability, making Nyckoles Harbor one of the hottest remaining five-star recruits in the class of 2023.
Harbor (6-foot-5, 225 pounds) plays EDGE plus a few other positions for Archbishop Carroll (Washington, D.C.). Last season he caught 16 passes and scored five touchdowns on offense. Meanwhile, on the other side of the ball, he totaled 17 sacks, 66 hurries and 31 tackles for a loss. For good measure, he blocked two punts and recovered two fumbles for touchdowns.
Needless to say, Harbor can help a lot of teams in a lot of different ways.
Next on the list for Harbor is a visit to Michigan, one of 46 schools that have made an offer. The Wolverines are getting a recruiting assist from Harbor’s sister Ziyah Holman, who’s a track and field star for the school.
