KeymasterBishop McNamara High School, a Holy Cross college preparatory school, announced today that Mr. Ron James has been selected as the new Head Girls’ Basketball Coach, succeeding previous Head Coach Frank Oliver, Jr.
Mr. James currently serves as the Director of Team Takeover Girls Basketball, having developed and grown the program since 2012. He has achieved over 650 wins in the past eleven years as the Head Coach of the Team Takeover 17u Nike EYBL and Team Takeover 8th grade Nike Jr. EYBL teams. Mr. James is also a proud Bishop McNamara parent and a regular presence on campus.
Mr. James focuses on developing exceptional players by promoting leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship across his program to ensure lifelong success for his student-athletes. He has helped over 75 players earn Division I scholarships and is skilled in producing elite competitors. His coaching has helped to garner player accolades including 8 McDonald’s All-American Athletes, 12 Jordan Brand Classic All-Americans, multiple USA Today and Naismith All-Americans, First-team All-American, and WBCA Coaches’ All-American Team members, All-Conference teams, Conference Player of the Year, Conference All-Rookie team, and gold and silver medalists for Team USA. Silver Waves Media has recognized him as one of the “100 Most Impactful People in Women’s Basketball” on three separate occasions.
Mr. James also brings 27 years of educational experience including Prince George’s County Public Schools and Fairfax County Public Schools. He earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Lincoln University.
