With the June recruiting period open, Tony Bennett’s coaching staff is scattered across the country checking out players Virginia has offered for the Class of 2023.

Much of the attention has gone toward Bishop Ireton wing Jamie Kaiser, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound prospect whose stock has skyrocketed in recent weeks. Kaiser, who announced his final nine schools recently and declared that he would commit at the end of June, has since decided to push that announcement back to a later undisclosed date.

Virginia made his list of nine along with Maryland, Michigan State, Miami, Indiana, Wake Forest, Iowa, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Boston College. Apparently some new schools have jumped into the race, including UCLA.

Bennett attended games being played at DeMatha Catholic on Friday, while associate head coach Jason Williford was there on Saturday to watch Kaiser, who officially visited UVA on June 3. Even former Cavalier great Ralph Sampson showed up on Saturday to get a glimpse of Kaiser.

Class of 2023 wing Jamie Kaiser Jr. is “supposed to be taking” a visit “to Indiana soon” he told Inside the Hall.

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound wing attends Bishop Ireton High School in Virginia and plays for New World Basketball on the 3SSB (adidas) circuit. Kaiser Jr. is rated as a three-star prospect and ranks 168th in the 2023 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

On June 5, Kaiser Jr. announced a top nine list that included Virginia, Indiana, Miami, Boston College, Iowa, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Maryland and Wisconsin. But UCLA has now been added to the mix, Kaiser Jr. said.

Mike Woodson was among the head coaches to have recently watched Kaiser Jr. play.

Inside the Hall spoke with Kaiser Jr. about his recruitment and more:

How has your recruitment gone overall?

“It’s actually really blown up. It came — it all came in like the past two months. So it’s really exciting.”

Why do you think your stock has risen a lot?

“I mean, I played in one of the tougher conferences in the country (Washington Catholic Athletic Conference) and I did real well. I was the leading scorer in the conference and then I went to the adidas Gauntlet and did really good in those first two live periods and then that’s when things started.”

You announced a top nine list (Virginia, Indiana, Miami, Boston College, Iowa, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin), are those still the schools you’re focusing on?

“I mean, yeah. UCLA jumped in the mix yesterday. So they’ll be added on there. But that’s the final list.”

Who have you recently been in contact with?

“Indiana, Virginia, just mostly the schools in that top nine.”

Where have you taken visits and when did take them?

“In the first week of May, I took one to Harvard and I took one to Wisconsin. And then I took one to Virginia and then I took one to Maryland.”

UNC Basketball: UNC would be “dream offer” for Jamie Kaiser

      Full article: https://keepingitheel.com/2022/07/10/unc-basketball-dream-offer-jamie-kaiser/

Back in March, four-star prospect Jamie Kaiser decided to give up football to focus on the sport of basketball.

As his recruitment starts to heat up, it seems like that was a very good decision for the Burke, Virginia native.

Kaiser, a 2023 student-athlete who attends Bishop Ireton High School, is ranked by 247Sports Composite as the No. 2 overall player out of the state of Virginia. He’s also considered the No. 21 ranked wing player in his graduating class.

The 6-foot-6 wing player has received interest from a number of schools and already has taken official visits to Harvard, Maryland, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

However, would an offer from the UNC basketball program completely change the landscape of his recruitment?

In an interview with On3, Kaiser mentioned that the North Carolina coaching staff has talked to his high school coach, but also noted that he hasn’t heard directly from them yet.

When asked about the Tar Heels, Kaiser stated that North Carolina would be a “dream offer” for him:

“I heard that UNC would come to a couple of my games. I’ve not talked to them directly yet, but my high school coach has talked with them. I went to Burke (VA) Lake Braddock High, and Hubert Davis went there. I’m friends with his nephew. That would be a dream offer, but I am very happy with what I have now and very appreciative of what I have.”

Kaiser has an official visit planned to Indiana

      https://www.yardbarker.com/general_sports/articles/four_star_jamie_kaiser_to_visit_indiana/s1_16544_37671594

Four-star recruit Jamie Kaiser has an official visit planned to Indiana University, according to a report from On3.

Mike Woodson and the Indiana coaching staff have made Kaiser a priority in the class of 2023, as they look for wings and forwards to complement a pair of four-star guard commits Gabe Cupps from Centerville, Ohio and Jakai Newton from Covington, Ga.

“They love me; I talk to them every day,” Kaiser told On3. “You look over and see Coach Woody (Mike Woodson) sitting there watching. They are recruiting Jaeden (Mustaf) and Khani (Rooths) too. We all fit their type of playing style. It’s a pro-style system, and they recruit really well. They have been here every game, and I appreciate that.”

Kaiser is ranked No. 75 on 247Sports, No. 38 on On3 and No. 142 on Rivals. He has taken official visits to Wisconsin, Harvard, Virginia and Maryland, and has future visits planned to Indiana, UCLA and Stanford. There has also been recent traction about a potential North Carolina offer, as Kaiser said his high school coach has talked with the Tar Heel coaching staff.

Jamie Kaiser’s list of five schools

      Read more here: https://jerryratcliffe.com/virginia-on-jamie-kaisers-list-of-five-schools/

Four-star wing Jamie Kaiser Jr., who plays for Bishop Ireton in Northern Virginia, has five schools at the top of his list and expects to make a decision before his senior year begins.

Kaiser told Travis Branham of 247Sports that five schools stand out: Virginia, Indiana, Maryland, Miami and UCLA. He said Indiana contacts him several times daily and Maryland has daily contact as well.

      Virginia?

“Coach [Tony] Bennett is a great guy, he’s a winner, a two-time National Coach of the Year, he’s a champion,” Kaiser told Branham. “If he’s offering you then you have to respect it and look into it a little bit because he doesn’t offer many kids.”

Kaiser, who has visited UVA, said he plans to make official visits to Indiana and UCLA soon.

The 6-foot-5 shooter is ranked No. 75 overall in the nation but that number is likely to improve.

      Read more here: https://www.si.com/college/indiana/basketball/class-of-2023-four-star-shooting-guard-jamie-kaiser-jr-picks-maryland-over-indiana-and-virginia

Jamie Kaiser Jr. is a Terrapin.

On Sunday, the four-star shooting guard from Burke, Va. announced his commitment to the Maryland basketball program over finalists Indiana and Virginia. Kaiser is Maryland’s second class of 2023 commit, joining Jahnathan Lamothe, a three-star shooting guard from Baltimore, Md.

The 6-foot-6 Kaiser is ranked No. 73 on 247Sports and No. 139 on Rivals, and On3 considers Kaiser one of the biggest risers in his class, moving all the way up to No. 37 in their rankings.

He is a strong 3-point shooter, averaging 20.7 points per game at Bishop Ireton last season. Kaiser played AAU basketball for New World on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, and he recently announced that he’ll play his final year of high school basketball at IMG Academy in Bradenton…

Tough luck for Bishop Ireton (and the WCAC), Kaiser will play his senior season at IMG Academy.

Jamie Kaiser JR is now listed as a Florida player with his transition to IMG for his senior year. Two weeks ago, he was the #2 player in VA, with DeShawn Harris-Smith #3. Jahnathan Lamothe #4 in MD. Impressive work by the staff to build trust with elite local players.
