A 41-yard touchdown pass from the DeMatha Stags junior quarterback Tristan Sabb to senior wide receiver Lavar Keys in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference in a hard-fought 7-0 win for the Stags over the Good Counsel Falcons on Friday night.
The game, which took place in Olney, featured two of the top five teams in the DMV area, according to The Washington Post, with the Stags coming in ranked No. 1 and the Falcons at No. 4. The Stags are now 6-0 and the Falcons are 4-3.
“Classic Good Counsel-DeMatha game,” said Falcons head coach Andy Stefanelli. “I saw a lot of grit and toughness from our team, and they just kept fighting. Didn’t back down at all.”
