Virginia Tech Men’s Basketball’s 2025 recruiting class received a major boost today as the Hokies received a commitment from four-star C Christian Gurdak out of Gonzaga College High School in Washington D.C.
Gurdak chose the Hokies over Notre Dame, where he also took an official visit last month, along with other offers from Virginia, Maryland, Iowa, Clemson, Penn State, and George Washington. The 6’10” center is the Hokies’ second commit of the 2025 class joining three-star F Sin’Cere Jones out of the 757.
This is a big recruiting victory for the Hokies after Gurdak emerged as a priority frontcourt target in the past couple months with the standout D.C. area big taking an official visit last month. There have been some questions about Tech’s ability to recruit the transfer portal, but Mike Young and his staff have shown they can land some highly-regarded high school talent with tons of power programs interested including Rechsteiner in the 2023 class, Ryan Jones in the 2024 class, and Gurdak now in the 2025 class.
