      Big Ten college football player has been arrested on troubling charges early on Thursday morning.

      Maryland’s football program is having a great start to the year, undefeated through four weeks. But the Terrapins got some tough news on Thursday morning. A redshirt freshman Terrapins football player was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence on Wednesday morning, September 24. DD Holmes, a redshirt freshman out of Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C., has been arrested.

      Holmes, who started his college career at Florida State before transferring to hometown Maryland, had appeared in all four of the Terps’ games this season. He played as a second-string defensive lineman, recording three tackles. Holmes was developing into a key contributor on the Maryland defense.

      According to a report from The DC MD VA Live, a driver struck a building and attempted to speed off at Looney’s Pub, a popular University of Maryland area bar, on Tuesday morning.

      “LOONEY TUESDAYS CRASH: University of Maryland Police and Prince George’s County Police are investigating after the driver of a car struck a building and tried to speed off at Looney’s Pub on Baltimore Ave in College Park. (near UMD) More details to follow tomorrow…” the outlet reported.
