Former Ole Miss shortstop Errol Robinson signed by Cardinals
Late Thursday night, former Ole Miss shortstop Errol Robinson was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals organization, after playing 43 games for the Sussex County Minors of the Frontier League in 2022.
Robinson, a native of Boyds, Maryland, had a batting average of .312 with 22 stolen bases, ranking near the top of the league in that category. The 27-year-old started his professional career with the Ogden Raptors, who was at the time, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers drafted Robinson in the sixth round back in 2016.
He would then go on to play for three different clubs the following year. Robinson made his way back to Tulsa, the Dodgers’ AA affiliate in 2018, where he batted .247 with 10 home runs and 50 RBI in 117 games before going to Glendale. Robinson then made two different stops in 2019, first at AAA Dodgers affiliate Oklahoma City, before yet again returning to Tulsa. After COVID-19 canceled all minor league baseball in 2021, Robinson would play for two different clubs in the Cincinnati Reds organization. His first stop with the Reds would be at their AAA affiliate in Louisville and then their AA affiliate in Chattanooga. Later on, Robinson would play independent AA ball for Sioux City and then most recently, Sussex County.
