For the second straight week, the Stags traveled out of the area and came away with an impressive win. Most recently, they knocked off Washington, one of the best programs in Ohio, 20-14. LR: 2

3. St. John’s (3-1)
Behind a strong defensive effort, St. John’s took care of Friendship, 14-6, to maintain its status as the highest-ranked team in D.C. LR: 3

9. Good Counsel (2-3)
Good Counsel looked like, well, Good Counsel this past weekend, a welcome sight after three consecutive losses. It handled Stone Bridge in a much-needed win, 48-10. LR: 10

10. Gonzaga (4-1)
A late touchdown by Malvern Prep (Pa.) handed Gonzaga its first loss with just one game remaining before its Washington Catholic Athletic Conference opener. LR: 8

17. Georgetown Prep (2-2)
The Hoyas saw their game against Woodberry Forest (Va.) canceled because of Hurricane Helene. Interstate Athletic Conference play is up next. LR: 18

University of Maryland commit Bud Coombs rushed for 171 yards and a touchdown as the Stags knocked off the defending Ohio Division 2 state champions. DeMatha hosts Life Christian Academy (Va.) Friday.

The Falcons snapped a three-game losing skid as Pittsburgh commit DaMarion Fowkles scored four touchdowns, including a game-opening 85-yard kickoff return and punt return scores of 45 and 81 yards. Good Counsel hosts Glen Burnie Friday.
