Safety DeMarcco Hellams has been waiting for this moment for his entire life, a chance to play in the NFL.
“It’s definitely a process that you have to you know, get used to. It’s definitely something I’ve been preparing myself for, for four years. I mean, even before that, getting ready for these moments and you just take it one day at a time and it’s definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he said.
Hellams was a star of both offense and defense at DeMatha Catholic High School. As a wide receiver he totaled 78 receptions for 1,469 yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior and was the 2018 Washington Post Metro Offensive Player of the Year.
That same season he recorded 91 tackles and 12 interceptions as a defensive back, three of those returned for touchdowns.
