Adrien Stevens looked up and smiled when he saw this substitution was for him. The Bullis junior forward was being removed with 45 seconds left in Saturday’s Interstate Athletic Conference championship game and the No. 4 Bulldogs on the verge of a 70-52 win over No. 7 Georgetown Prep.
Stevens walked to the bench, getting the type of late-game ovation usually reserved for a senior. In fact, senior guard Tyler Boston had received a similar send-off just moments earlier. “Yeah, that was nice,” Stevens said with a smile. “I’ve been working for moments like that, so that felt real good.”
