Top 10 2024 Signed Recruits

As we near the midpoint of the 2023 HS football season, it seems like an appropriate time to look ahead to the future of some of the football stars in the DMV. Many of the top players in the DC area have already signed with elite schools in the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, and more. Below, we analyze the top 10 2024 signed recruits among the teams DCSportsFan.com covers.
Class of 2024 Recruits
1. Dylan Stewart, Friendship Collegiate Academy
Position: Edge Rusher
Height and Weight: 6-5/235
Committed to: University of South Carolina
Stewart is as “can’t-miss” as they come when it comes to edge rushers. He is the 12-ranked prospect in the entire nation, and he will provide an explosiveness to the Gamecocks’ defensive line that they haven’t seen since the Jadeveon Clowney days.
2. Aaron Chiles, Our Lady Good Counsel HS
Position: Linebacker
Height and Weight: 6-3/220
Committed to: University Florida
Clocking in at #2 is Aaron Chiles, a linebacker out of Good Counsel who exemplifies leadership on the defensive side of the football. His HS head coach Andy Stefanelli gushed over Chiles, calling him “the quarterback of the defense.” It is clear that adding him to a college defense will be transformative.
3. Dillin Jones, Our Lady Good Counsel HS
Position: Running Back
Height and Weight: 5-11/180
Committed to: University of Wisconsin
Good Counsel is also home to our #3 recruit, Dillin Jones. Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn describes Jones as having a combination of speed and strength that will make him a “high-level running back at a major college program.” He has NFl Draft potential, according to Dohn.
4. Elijah Moore, Our Lady Good Counsel HS
Position: Wide Receiver
Height and Weight: 6-4.5/200
Committed to: Florida State University
Elijah Moore is described by scouts as being elite at making contested catches on the perimeter. Don’t be surprised if you see highlight-reel catches from him circulating social media in the next couple years. “ I feel like we’re going to bring a National Championship back to FSU,” Moore told reporters at the school’s annual Seminole Showcase weekend.\
5. Darrien Mayo, Our Lady Good Counsel HS
Position: Defensive Lineman
Height and Weight: 6-7/250
Committed to: Clemson University
Continuing Good Counsel’s dominance on this list, edge rusher Darrien Mayo’s physical stature will provide the Clemson defensive line with an elite level of strength that will be a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks.
6. DD Holmes, Gonzaga
Position: Defensive Lineman
Height and Weight: 6-6/250
Committed to: Florida State University
DD Holmes out of Gonzaga is the second highest-ranked recruit coming out of Washington D.C. Holmes is another big man who is the type of player who can change the DNA of a defense. In his junior season, Holmes recorded 37 tackles, including eight tackles for a loss.
7. Emmet Laws, DeMatha Catholic
Position: Defensive Lineman
Height and Weight: 6-0/260
Committed to: Virginia Tech
Emmet Laws has been a brick wall on the defensive line for DeMatha during his high school career. Laws won the Defensive Lineman MVP award at the 2023 Rivals Camp Series in New Jersey and says he fits in well with the defensive scheme of the Hokies.
8. Da’Juan Riggs, St John’s
Position: Running Back
Height and Weight: 6-0/202
Committed to: University of Oregon
Da’Juan Riggs is the first person on our list to choose a West Coast school. Riggs is the nation’s 58th ranked running back. He ran for 962 yards and 15 touchdowns on 118 carries, averaging 8.2 yards per carry during his junior year in 2022.
9. Kyle Altuner, Our Lady Good Counsel HS
Position: Inside Offensive Lineman
Height and Weight: 6-2/290
Committed to: West Virginia University
Kyle Altuner will head about 200 miles west to Morgantown, WV to further bolster an already strong offensive line for WVU. Altuner was a first-team all conference and first time all-metro selection in 2022.
10. Montay Weedon, St. John’s
Position: Linebacker
Height and Weight: 6-1/215
Committed to: University of Cincinnati
Montay Weedon sneaks into the top 100 linebackers in the nation at #97. He is renowned for his ability for midfield tackles, something that will be extremely beneficial for the Bearcats as they settle into their new conference, the Big 12. Weedon has also proved to be a weapon in the punt-blocking game.
