DCSAA Announces United Bank Student-Athlete Scholarship Program

The DC State Athletic Association, which is steadfast in its commitment to excellence in academics as well as athletics, announced that United Bank, The Community Bank of the Nation’s Capital, will present $5,000 scholarships to five outstanding D.C. student-athletes.

The scholarships will recognize student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in the classroom, on the athletic field and in the community within the District of Columbia.

With the support of United Bank, DCSAA will recognize these five outstanding student athletes for the efforts they have made and the leadership they have shown.

“There are so many incredible student-athletes in D.C. and the United Bank Student-Athlete Scholarship Program is a terrific way to both recognize some of their achievement and help them take the next step in their academic journey,” DCSAA Executive Director Kenny Owens said. “Thanks to United Bank and its continued support of this program. We hope this motivates more student-athletes to make a positive impact within their own lives and the communities they serve moving forward.”

“Our commitment to making an impact in the communities where we live and work is a central part of United Bank’s mission,” United Bankshares, Inc. CEO Rick Adams said. “United Bank is a strong supporter of education, and we are proud to support these talented students on their path towards achieving their goals.”
