How the DCSF Rating Works
Wins & Record
The primary factor. Teams with more wins and better records receive priority.
Strength of Schedule
Among teams with comparable records, strength of schedule accounts for 30% of the rating. Opponent quality is recalculated as more games are played.
League Strength
Strength of schedule is adjusted by league: WCAC 1.20× • IAC 1.05× • MAC 1.00× • DCIAA 1.00×. The adjustment applies to schedule strength and does not automatically move a team ahead of a team with a better record.
Game Performance
Game performance accounts for 15% of the rating. Scoring margin is capped at 21 points, so teams are not rewarded for running up the score.
DCSF Rating
The final computer result is normalized to a 0–100 scale. The entire ranking is recalculated as new results are added throughout the season.
