How the DCSF Rating Works

Wins & Record: Winning remains the foundation of the rankings, but a significant difference in schedule strength can outweigh a small difference in record.

Strength of Schedule: Opponent quality is a major component of the rating and is recalculated as more games are played. Teams are rewarded for playing and beating stronger opponents.

League Strength: Strength of schedule is adjusted by league: WCAC 1.20× • Friendship Collegiate/Independent 1.10× • IAC 1.05× • MAC 1.00× • DCIAA 1.00×. The adjustment applies to schedule strength rather than simply awarding teams additional ranking points.

+/−: Total points scored minus total points allowed. The statistic is displayed for comparison but is not used as a separate DCSF Rating factor.

Game Performance: Scoring margin is considered in the DCSF Rating but is capped at 21 points per game, so teams receive no additional benefit for running up the score.

DCSF Rating: The final result is normalized to a 0–100 scale. Rankings are recalculated throughout the season as new results provide more information about each team and its opponents.
