John Pignone attended Gonzaga College High School and graduated in 1997. Recently, he sat down with his former classmate Brendan Hartnett, who is the current Department Chair of Religious Studies Department at Gonzaga. After leaving Gonzaga, Pignone decided to forgo college and enroll in the Marines and ended up deploying three times after 9/11 happened. Twice he went to Iraq with heavy combat. After serving as a marine for 12 years, he became the first Gonzaga alumnus to enter the Society of Jesus in 35 years.
The 35-minute video takes you through John’s journey through Gonzaga, the Marines and eventually the Society of Jesus. He currently teaches history and religion departments at Xavier High School in New York.
