The Best Games This Weekend

St. John’s vs. Gonzaga @ Blair, Saturday, 3:00
The winner gets the fourth and final playoff spot in the WCAC. The loser gets a long offseason to think about what could have been. Regardless of what happens on the field Saturday afternoon, the best part could be what happens in the fifth quarter following the game. Kevin Hogan picked up offers from Maryland and Virginia last weekend, but he'll need to play Saturday for the Eagles to have a chance. DCSportsFan's cameras will be rolling.
Prediction: St. John's 27, Gonzaga 24

Georgetown Prep @ Landon, Saturday, 2:00
Anyone not headed to Blair High School will most likely be in Bethesda when Landon and Prep meet in what could be Bordley's last time facing Prep on the gridiron. Both teams are having good seasons, but both teams would trade all their current wins for a victory on Saturday. DCSportsFan will be on hand to record everything that happens.
Prediction: Georgetown Prep 23, Landon 21

DeMatha @ McNamara, Saturday, 2:30
DeMatha comes into Saturday's game looking to complete their perfect regular season while McNamara features the best team to come out of Forestville in years. DeMatha is the favorite, but don't be suprised if the Mustangs put up a fight. DCSportsFan will be in attendance.
Prediction: DeMatha 35, McNamara 21

Paul VI @ O’Connell, Saturday, 2:00
In case you're wondering why a game featuring two teams who have a combined 5-13 record would be considered a good game, then you don't know much about these two schools. Paul VI and O'Connell could be playing a game of chess in the middle of June in central Alabama and there would be 1,000 people at the match. PVI is having a bad year, but records mean nothing on Saturday.
Prediction: O'Connell 20, Paul VI 13

Potomac School @ Flint Hill, Saturday, 2:15
Potomac School has a chance to win a MAC championship over Flint Hill, but the Huskies, despite their poor start, have won all the games that mattered. That trend continues this weekend as Flint Hill gets one step closer to another league title. DCSportsFan will be in attendance.
Prediction: Flint Hill 17, Potomac School 16

St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes @ St. Albans, 1:00
St. Stephen’s is looking to spoil the Nov. 14 game between Landon and St. Albans, who are both unbeaten in league play. The Saints, however, have dropped two straight since starting 5-1, including back-to-back losses to Landon and Episcopal. St. Albans wins this game.
Prediction: St. Albans 20, St. Stephen’s 13

Other D.C. Area Public & Private School Football Games

Bullis @ Episcopal, Friday, 2:30
Bullis has not won a league game since October 14, 2006.
Prediction: Episcopal 27, Bullis 7

Carroll @ Good Counsel, Friday, 7:00
The last four times these two teams have played, Good Counsel has won by at least 40 points. This time will be no different.
Prediction: Good Counsel 49, Carroll 7

Ireton @ St. Mary’s Ryken, Friday, 7:00
Ireton completes their regular season with a lopsided victory over Ryken.
Prediction: Ireton 40, St. Marys Ryken 6

Anacostia @ Ballou, Friday, 7:00
Hats off to Ballou football coach Moses Ware and the job he and his staff has done this season. Ballou cruises into the playoffs with a big win over Anacostia.
Prediction: Ballou 40, Anacostia 12

McKinley @ Eastern, Friday, 7:00
McKinley picks up their first conference victory against a struggling Eastern team.
Prediction: McKinley 33, Eastern 12?

Spingarn @ H.D. Woodson, Friday, 7:00
This is a tune-up game before H.D. Woodson starts postseason play.
Prediction: Woodson 44, Spingarn 0?

Cardozo @ Coolidge, Friday, 7:00
Coolidge is going to win this game, but they need help from Roosevelt to make the playoffs.
Prediction: Coolidge 41, Cardozo 6

Roosevelt @ Wilson, Friday, 7:00
A victory over Roosevelt will earn a playoff birth for Wilson. Roosevelt can’t run with the Tigers this season.
Prediction: Wilson 27, Roosevelt 19

Sidwell Friends vs. Maret @ Duke Ellington, Saturday, 2:30
Maret looks to finish the season 7-2 and 3-1 in league play with a victory over Sidwell Friends Saturday. However, the Fighting Frogs need Potomac School to beat Flint Hill to force a three-way tie in the MAC.
Prediction: Maret 28, Sidwell Friends 0

Montgomery County Football (6:30 PM)

B-CC @ Gaithersburg
The Guru loves how Gaithersburg (4-5) is finishing the season. Last week they hammered Northwest 33-6 for their second win in a row. B-CC is also finishing strong, winning their fourth straight against Churchill 20-13. Pick the home team in a close one.
Prediction: Gaithersburg 21, B-CC 16

Blake @ Rockville
GONGBAY! GONGBAY! GONGBAY!
Prediction: Rockville 28, Blake 12

Damascus @ Kennedy
Damascus (7-2) and their late-season rally clinched a 3A playoff spot no matter what happens in their game vs. Kennedy. The Hornets will use Kennedy (2-7) as a warm-up game and then wait to see who their opponent will be the following week.
Prediction: Damascus 31, Kennedy 6

Einstein @ Wheaton
The Guru loves Einstein (5-4) to beat up on a Wheaton (3-6) team that lost to Poolesville 32-30 last week, even though they got a 200-yard performance from RB Rayshawn Taylor.
Prediction: Einstein 28, Wheaton 12

Magruder @ Northwest
Both of these teams had very disappointing seasons by their own standards. Magruder (3-6) has the better defense than Northwest (3-6) and will win a close one.
Prediction: Magruder 17, Northwest 14

Northwood @ Blair
Blair’s offense finally showed up last week scoring 47 points against Richard Montgomery. Northwood (3-6) also had a big offensive day scoring 44 points in a win over Kennedy. The Guru loves Northwood in this game.
Prediction: Northwood 34, Blair 20

Seneca Valley @ Watkins Mill
Seneca Valley (5-4) still has a mathematical chance of reaching the playoffs, which is bad news for Watkins Mill (1-8). Seneca will beat up on the Wolverines then hope for a miracle.
Prediction: Seneca Valley 36, Watkins Mill 14

Sherwood @ Quince Orchard
Undefeated Quince Orchard (9-0) needs this win in order to secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Sherwood (8-1) also needs a win in order to get the top seed in 4A. The Guru believes that Quince Orchard’s luck runs out this week and Sherwood gives them their first loss of the season.
Prediction: Sherwood 28, Quince Orchard 16

Springbrook @ Paint Branch
If Springbrook (6-3) beats Paint Branch (8-1) they will qualify for the 4A playoffs. If they lose they go home for the winter. Paint Branch has already clinched a playoff spot; however, in order to host a first round game, they need a win. Springbrook got man-handled last week against Sherwood and it will not be any easier this week.
Prediction: Paint Branch 24, Springbrook 14

Whitman @ Churchill
Both of these teams have had great seasons and it is only fitting that they meet in the last game of the year to decide who will go to the playoffs. The winner is in and the loser may be out. Churchill has struggled lately losing a big game last week to BCC, 20-13. Whitman is coming off a big win vs. Seneca Valley, 16-13. The Guru likes the Vikings in this one. DCSportsFan will be in the house!
Prediction: Whitman 16, Churchill 13

Walter Johnson @ Richard Montgomery
When was the last time that Walter Johnson (2-8) was favored in a game? They are the big favorite this week against Richard Montgomery (0-9). The Guru believes that Richard Montgomery is going to complete their perfect season.
Prediction: Walter Johnson 33, Richard Montgomery 12

Wootton @ Clarksburg
The Coyote’s have put themselves in a position where they do not control their own fate. They must beat Wootton this week and then hope Tuscarora loses or a host of other combinations occur in order for them to make the 3A playoffs. Clarksburg takes care of business and beats Wootton.
Prediction: Clarksburg 27, Wootton 10

Poolesville @ Kent County
Poolesville (2-7) got their second win of the season beating Wheaton 32-30 last week. This week they travel to Kent County High School who comes into the game with a 2-7 record. The Guru likes the home team in this one.
Prediction: Kent County 35, Poolesville 13

DCSportsfan Coach of the Year
Coach Moses Ware did not win Coach of Year in 2006 when Ballou won its only championship and it was hard work pulling that team together. This years team has been built from the ground up. Great job to coach Moses Ware and his staff to a job well done.
