Georgetown Prep junior Robert Olson verbally committed to play basketball for Loyola College in Maryland this week. The 6-foot-4 guard was offered a full scholarship after having a breakout season for the Hoyas this past winter and the AAU Metro Sixers this spring.
“It was too good to pass up,” John Olson, Robert’s father, said. “Loyola has a good program and a good coach. The location is perfect and Loyola has a really good business school. It was just the right fit for him.”
For Georgetown Prep this past winter, Olson played alongside two of the area’s most talented basketball players. Garvey Young is headed to Vermont this fall to play basketball and Markel Starks is considered one of the best sophomores in the area. Although Olson started on the team, his play was often overlooked. According to John Olson, his son has been doing very well of late, leading the Metro Sixers in scoring.
