D.C. United Tie Revolution With Late Goal

After suffering their first loss of the season at the hands of Real Salt Lake last Saturday, the United were ready to come back home and challenge the New England Revolution for bragging rights within the Eastern Conference. Well, the odds were certainly in their favor. New England was already without starters Matt Reis (knee), Taylor Twellman (neck) and Chris Albright...

Namoff, United Get Past Rapids

D.C. United has been known to produce goal scorers such as Raul Diaz Arce, Marco Etcheverry and Jaime Moreno, MLS’s all-time goal scorer.

But whenever Bryan Namoff’s name is bandied about in the locker room or on the street, the first thought that comes to mind is relentless and trusty defensive skills. He is rarely caught out of position and rarely commits mistakes on the pitch. However, not all humans are perfect and there is always that one bad moment that every player has endured; but the great thing about sports is that there is always a chance for redemption.

After falling behind on an own goal by Namoff in the 14th minute, United looked as if they had been knocked down for the count. Despite creating a few threatening chances, their passing was sloppy, their spacing was subpar, and their desire was nowhere to be found.

United Get Past Red Bulls

United...

In Front of Little Fanfare, United Win

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophy does not seem to be a hot commodity these days. In fact, no one in D.C. seems to give a hoot. Last night, D.C. United took the field against the New York Red Bulls in front of an audience that was so little I could have counted them with my own two hands. Seriously, it was quiet enough to hear the nonchalant laughter from the United bench. OK, a little bit of an exaggeration, but you get my point.

This display of little fan support is something D.C. United cannot afford at this time. As we have all heard, D.C. is still on a frantic search for a new stadium and they’re not having much luck so far. With fan support dwindling slowly, things are not looking good. However, despite the dismal attendance and the unlucky stadium search, United put aside all the distractions and kept their focus on their opponents; the Red Bulls, who they defeated in a thrilling 3-2 come from behind victory no less than a month ago.

Defender Greg Janicki said it was important to come...
