L.J. Hoes Promoted to Bowie

Brian Roberts better watch his back. Former St. John's standout L.J. Hoes continues to impress in Minor Leagues as the Baltimore Orioles' prospect was promoted to the Bowie Baysox Monday, which is part of the Double-A Eastern League. Hoes, who hit .289 in 60 games for Frederick and .464 in eight games for Aberdeen, didn't waste any time making an impact....

Sbily, Bulldogs Beat Frogs in 'Classic' Opener

Maret and St. Albans each had one big inning in the opener of Saturday's Congressional Bank Classic at Nationals Park. The Bulldogs' bats, however, provided a bit more fireworks in their fantastic frame and they beat the Frogs 6-3 to move into the City Title game later in the evening.

In the bottom of the third inning of a 1-0 game, the top of the order came up for the IAC co-champions and six hits and five runs later, St. Albans was in control of the game. With the bases loaded and one out, senior catch Duncan Taylor ripped a double to bring in two runs. The next batter, junior Jack Gaybrick - the designated hitter - came through with a two-run hit and senior third basemen Jake Fitzgerald followed with an RBI of his own...
